A Signature Santoku for Elegance, Control, and Natural Expression
This Santoku Knife by Patrick Joseph brings together organic material, layered steel, and artistic construction to create a tool that’s both functional and visually compelling. Designed for smooth slicing, detailed prep, and daily culinary flow, the Santoku shape is loved for its comfort and agility. Material Excellence, Tailored by Hand
Black Pine Cone Resin Handle – Organic Structure, Modern Stability
The handle is cast using real pine cone cross-sections, suspended in deep black resin. This creates a natural, fractal-like pattern that is both lightweight and structurally stable — offering grip, uniqueness, and resilience in equal measure.
Each handle is cast, shaped, and polished by hand, making every piece visually one-of-a-kind and mechanically reliable.
Black Liner – Reinforced Structure with Elegant Contrast
A black liner provides hidden strength and visual continuity between the tang and the pine cone resin. This fine layer ensures stability while enhancing the profile of the handle with refined detail.
Suminagashi San Mai VG10 – Forged Steel with Flow and Clarity
At the core of the blade lies VG10 stainless steel, selected for its edge precision, hardness, and corrosion resistance. Laminated using the San Mai technique, the VG10 core is protected between two outer stainless layers, providing strength and flexibility. The surface is etched to reveal a flowing Suminagashi pattern — wave-like lines created by folding layers of steel with varying carbon content. These markings are not decoration but a forged expression of layered craftsmanship.
Key Attributes of Suminagashi San Mai VG10 Steel:
• Razor-sharp edge with long-lasting performance
• Triple-layer San Mai construction for strength and resilience
• High corrosion resistance for kitchen use
• Authentic Suminagashi wave pattern – forged, not printed
• VG10 – the standard in Japanese professional cutlery
The Shamrock Pin – A Signature of Irish Making
Set into the centre of the handle is the Shamrock Pin — the emblem of Patrick Joseph craftsmanship. Representing authenticity, legacy, and Irish pride, it marks each knife as a true work of origin.
Built by Hand in Ireland
Every Patrick Joseph knife is built by hand in Ireland, guided by a commitment to precision, discipline, and detail. The process is deliberate, the standards exacting — resulting in a knife that performs flawlessly and endures through time.
