From Steel to Something of Your Own
Your experience begins with a bar of steel. Over two days, you’ll see it take shape through your own work. With Patrick’s personal guidance, you’ll profile the blade, grind its bevels and discover how its geometry influences the way it cuts. You’ll learn why heat treatment matters and take part in the process that gives the steel its working properties. Then comes the handle: choosing from the available woods or composites, shaping it for comfort and bringing blade and handle together. Finishing and sharpening complete the transformation. There is no previous forging experience required. The focus is on the care, precision and practical skills that turn steel into a finished knife.
Learn Directly from the Maker
Patrick brings the understanding of a bladesmith and the attention to detail of a jeweller to his teaching. In a small-group setting, you’ll have time to ask questions, understand each stage and appreciate details you may never have noticed in a knife before. You don’t need previous workshop experience. Patrick guides you throughout, helping you build confidence as your knife takes shape.
